Vacancies available:

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Core responsibilities including but not limited to: 

  • Give technical support and advice to management and workshop personnel on fleet management related matters in order to sustain a continuous improvement program and quality control.
  • Identification of technical and operational solutions to existing problems in the workshop processes and on the fleet.
  • Prepare technical reports to assist management in taking the required informed decisions.
  • Prepare improvement proposal reports based on technical analysis.
  • Assist technical department to plan and execute campaigns, reforms and other improvements as required to reach department targets.
  • Work closely with workshop manager to finetune the fleet inspection plan to increase mean time between failure (MTBF).
  • Receiving training from manufacturers, relay the information to subordinates and lead the training program for workshop personnel. 

Other responsibilities including but not limited to: 

  • To be involved in the annual budget and forecast for the workshop and follow the approved costings.
  • Planning of human and material resources that are required to sustain the workshop operation.
  • Support engineering department infrastructure whenever technical guidelines and support is required.
  • Ensure compliance with all policies related to security, data protection, health and safety, quality assurance and environment protection.
  • Give support when required to the various departments in the company in relation with the content of his/ her duties.
  • Any action related to the job mission that may be delegated by management. 

Requirements: 

  • Warranted Mechanical Engineering with five years working experience;
  • Minimum of 2 years working experience in a managerial position;
  • Preference will be given to candidates having experience in maintenance and repair of industrial machinery or heavy vehicles;
  • Good organization skills and adaptability;
  • Good diagnostics, problem detection and problem-solving skills;
  • Advanced knowledge of preventive maintenance;
  • Analysis of complex mechanical / electrical incidents and definition of the next steps for its resolution;
  • Ability to work in a team and to promote teamwork;
  • Ability to provide guidance to colleagues on technical matters;
  • Leadership and management skills;
  • General analytical skills.

BUS DRIVERS 

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Collect ticket fares and check that the tickets are valid;
  • Scan the passengers’ Tallinja cards and ensure passengers have the correct Tallinja Pass when boarding the bus;
  • Carry out the route as per the itinerary and in the expected timeframe;
  • Communicate to the Control Room any incidence/problem that was produced during the service;
  • Check the technical condition of the vehicle and the equipment on board by means of daily (routine) checks, identifying in the Defect Sheet any possible anomalies/abnormalities;
  • Help and accommodate the passengers as they board and leave the bus in accordance with the norms of safety;
  • Safeguard the passengers’ safety and that of others drivers using the road network;
  • Communicate to the Control Room any data/information relative to the safety and complaints of the passengers;
  • Hand-over of the daily collected cash (money) together with the invalid (null) tickets and the Defect Sheet when finishing his/her duty;
  • Safeguard the compliance with the norms and policies for Health and Safety, Risk Prevention, Data Protection, Quality and Environmental Control within the sphere of his/her duties;
  • Cooperate/coordinate with the Service Supervisor (or any other person assigned by the Company) in other tasks as deemed necessary;
  • Park the vehicle in the assigned zone of the depot. 

Requirements:

  • Driving license required: European Category D and CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence);
  • Ability to communicate in English or Maltese;
  • Basic level of education;
  • Pass a medical examination and driving assessment;
  • Clean Police record (current) from country of origin. A stamped translated copy in English has to be provided if the original document is not in English;
  • Required to work early morning, late evening and weekend shifts on a roster basis which is published four weeks in advance;
  • Applicants will be requested to sit for a driving test conducted by local authorities in Malta.
