Vacancies available:

MECHANIC 

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Perform mechanical repairs on our fleet;
  • Depending on the level of experience, perform diagnostics on vehicle breakdowns, perform preventive and corrective works whilst coordinating with the supervisor on duty;
  • Proper use and care of diagnostic equipment and tools;
  • Ensure that diagnostics and repairs performed are safe, reliable and in line with company safety standards;
  • Fill out job cards or any other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability;
  • Assist management to ensure workspace is kept safe and clean, including proper waste management;
  • Comply to company policies such as security, health and safety, data protection, quality assurance, etc.;
  • Follow the Team Supervisor’s instructions;
  • Carry out other duties that can be allocated or delegated by Management. 

Selected candidates will be required to work shifts between Monday and Sunday on a roster basis. 

Requirements: 

  • Three (3) years working experience in maintenance and repair of vehicles;
  • Maintenance and repair of heavy vehicles;
  • Ability to work in a team and with minimum supervision;
  • Have good problem solving and communication skills;
  • Ability to communicate in either Maltese and/or English.

STOREKEEPER

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Issue purchase orders and proposals.
  • Receiving products from suppliers and placing them on predetermined shelves after they have been recorded in the Stores Management system;
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors.
  • Handling of materials to technical staff members to do repairs on any asset belonging to the company.
  • Recording of parts issued in the Stores Management system.
  • Keeping track of the warranty process for new vehicle parts, as well as the proper labelling and storage of those parts that need to be claimed.
  • Responsible for the stock, parts, common tools and equipment to be used in any function of the department.
  • Ensure effective cleaning and organization of work areas and tools at all times, including hazardous wastes management.
  • Follow company health and safety policies.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned or delegated by the Stores Supervisor and Stores and Procurement Manager. 

Requirements: 

  • Ideally have a secondary level of education.
  • Preferably have working experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge on mechanical parts, accessories and materials used in the Store.
  • Familiar with inventory principles and practices, proper methods of storekeeping, including receipts, inspections, storage and issuance of supplies.
  • Have good record maintenance skills using a computer and relevant software applications.
  • Ability to control receipts and issuing of parts, tools and equipment

ELECTRICIAN 

Key responsibilities: 

  • Technical duties: general maintenance and repairs on starters, alternators, light body (exterior and interior) repairs;
  • Fill in work orders and follow up requests sent to the storehouse;
  • Perform diagnostics on vehicle electrical breakdowns and incidences and preventive and corrective works;
  • Carry out general maintenance, service and repairs duties on electrics efficiently;
  • Ensure that vehicles on which s/he has made diagnostic and repairs are safe and reliable, and fulfil government standard requirements;
  • Filling out job cards or any other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability;
  • Ensure effective cleaning and organization of work areas and tools at all times, including hazardous wastes management;
  • Ensure compliance to policies namely security, health and safety, data protection, quality assurance and eco-friendly established in the area of responsibility;
  • Follow the Team Supervisor instructions;
  • Carry out other duties that can be allocated or delegated by Management. 

The ideal candidate will have: 

  • A post-secondary level of education;
  • Three (3) years working experience in electrical maintenance and repair of industrial vehicles with euro 6 engines;
  • Experience working on diesel engines, trucks, and buses;
  • Intermediate level in either English or Maltese (verbal & written);
  • Must be organized and able to coordinate and communicate well with others;
  • Ability to work in a team and on own initiative;
  • Have problem solving skills.

PANEL BEATER 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Follow the Panel Beater Supervisor instructions; 
  • Evaluate damages on body and structure;
  • Develop working method to achieve goals and requirements on each repair to be performed, defining what are the steps to be taken on it;
  • Repair accident damages and painting;
  • Fill out job cards or any other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability;
  • Ensure effective cleaning and organization of work areas and tools at all times, including hazardous wastes management; 
  • Follow company health and safety policy;
  • Carry out other duties that can be allocated or delegated by Engineering Manager. 

The ideal candidate should have: 

  • Two years minimum of work experience in panel beating and spray painting;
  • Knowledge of industrial vehicle structures;
  • Ability to use repair and painting products;
  • Ability to communicate in English and Maltese;
  • Ability to communicate well with peers and take a leadership role in decision making;
  • Problem solving skills;

BUS DRIVERS 

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Safeguard the passengers’ safety, assist and accommodate the passengers as they board and leave the bus in accordance with our safety procedures;
  • Ensure compliance with the company’s policies for health and safety, risk prevention, data protection, quality and environmental control within the sphere of his/her duties;
  • Cooperate/coordinate with the Service Supervisor (or any other person assigned by the Company) in other tasks as deemed necessary;
  • Collect ticket fares and check that the tickets are valid;
  • Scan the passengers’ Tallinja cards and ensure passengers have the correct Tallinja pass when boarding the bus;
  • Carry out the route as per the itinerary and in the expected timeframe;
  • Communicate to the Control Room any incidence/problem that happened during the service and any data or information related to the safety and complaints of the passengers;
  • Check the technical condition of the vehicle and the equipment on board by means of daily (routine) checks, identifying in the defect sheet any possible anomalies/abnormalities;
  • Hand-over of the daily collected cash (money) together with the invalid (null) tickets and the defect sheet when finishing the duty;

 Requirements:

  • Local Driving license required: European Category B and/or D and CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence);
  • Ability to communicate in English or Maltese;
  • Basic level of education;
  • Pass a medical examination and driving assessment;
  • Clean police record;
  • Required to work early morning, late evening and weekend shifts on a roster basis which is published four weeks in advance;
  • Applicants with a B license will be required to sit for a driving test conducted by local authorities in Malta.

 TEAM SUPERVISOR 

Reporting to the Workshop Manager, the Team Supervisor will coordinate and supervise required works to achieve established goals for the company in the workshop.  The team supervisor is expected to execute works following plans by the Workshop Manager while ensuring the company targets for reliability and safety are achieved.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assign work to the Mechanics and Electricians on duty;
  • Assist mechanics to diagnose Breakdowns and incidences;
  • Supervise the technical team performance;
  • Make sure staff complete the required work in reasonable times and ensure job cards are compiled;
  • Fill out logs, job cards and other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability of works done;
  • Assist company to maintain clean and safe work-place;
  • Ensure proper use of shared tools by workforce;
  • Ensure compliance to company policies such as security, health and safety, data protection, quality assurance and eco-friendly measures;
  • Follow the Engineering Manager’s instructions;
  • Carry out other duties that can be allocated or delegated by Management.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years working experience in a similar role;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Good organisational skills;
  • Ability to plan, schedule and delegate work to maintenance personnel;
  • Team leadership skills and ability to promote and organise teamwork within the workshop. 

Preference will be given to candidates having:

  • Computer knowledge;
  • Personnel management skills and ability to work efficiently;
  • Willingness and having the right attitude to learn and develop capabilities for further improvement

SALES AGENT

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Keep up with the latest with Malta Public Transport's existing and new rates and services;
  • Sell all available fares and credit top-ups from MPT’s various sales outlets;
  • Handle cash, top-ups and closeout sales at the end of each working shift according to the current reconciliation Sales Policy;
  • Maintain self-organisation on stocks and any other materials required to perform duties effectively;
  • Assisting customers with queries and striving to improve customer satisfaction through excellent customer service;
  • Effectively communicate our policies to customers and ensure this knowledge is current and accurate according to the company’s revisions and updates;
  • Project a Safe and welcoming attitude towards customers;

Requirements: 

  • Be proficient verbally and written in both, English and Maltese;
  • Having an Ordinary level of qualification;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office;
  • Experience in sales or a similar position in the service industry will be considered an asset;

PLANNING ANALYST

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Studying the transport network, grouping the routes by areas or geographical areas in order to get a better understanding;
  • Issue regular reports including specific KPIs to study the detailed performance of individual routes or groups of routes at different times of the day, the week, the year, etc;
  • Detect any factor that can affect the efficiency of a route in terms of reliability and punctuality;
  • Detect all the factors which cause alterations in the running times;
  • Study the efficiency of routes from a company, driver and customer point of view, including punctuality, traffic management, safety and other considerations of each route;
  • Understanding each of both external and internal factors which cause alterations in the running times and the weight each factor has;
  • Understand, identify and propose solutions for safety hazards on routes which may not necessarily affect running times but may affect the safety of the route;
  • Detect driving patterns in order to identify those drivers who are quicker and slower and may require training and development;
  • Detect patterns of road closures and diversions and their impact on running times and the efficiency of the route;
  • Develop the proper tool which could let to predict future running times depending on the proper parameters and using all electronic data available;
  • Resolve with maximum urgency all incidents, problems and changes caused by changes in the normal journey of the routes;
  • Work closely with the Depot managers to be able to implement quick solutions where necessary to improve route efficiency;
  • Use the scheduling and allocating program (GOAL) and/or other technical tools that can be implemented in the area;
  • Conduct internal workshops with drivers and other personnel to get a better in-depth understanding of how to make a route more efficient;
  • Suggest to the planning team about the running times which have to be implemented;
  • Keep the depots updated about the changes in the running times which are going to be implemented;
  • Identify those routes with the lowest commercial speed and therefore suggest to Transport Malta the necessary changes to be implemented in order to improve the service;
  • Assist in the planning team with the finalization process for the publishing of Duty Boards;
  • Do the reports that are necessary in the scope of their competencies, that are requested by the immediate superior;
  • Manage the information received efficiently and confidentially;
  • Manage the service in the most efficient and effective way;
  • Ensure compliance and security policies, risk prevention, data protection, quality and environment established in the field of occupation and responsibilities;
  • Cooperate with the Planning Manager and Operations Director in all the tasks that are required.

Requirements: 

  • University degree or post-secondary education;
  • Be proficient verbally and in writing in English;
  • Previous experience and knowledge in the management of transport networks will be considered an asset.
  • Highly organised and able to communicate effectively;
  • Knowledge of routes and IT office tools;
  • Communication and analytical skills
  • Able to solve problems in an efficient manner and work under own initiative;

SYSTEM SUPPORT EXECUTIVE

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support users with Hardware and Software problems;
  • Ensure support tasks are logged and completed according to defined processes and procedures;
  • Maintain inventory of IT hardware and communications assets;
  • Perform administrative tasks required by the IT department supporting backup and maintenance procedures;
  • Actively promote technology throughout the company and provide training for applications and tools used by internal users;
  • Responsible for performing IT-related onboarding and offboarding procedures, including the configuration of Active Directory, applications access control, email, and computer profiles;
  • Ensure security tools installed on computer systems are configured according to IT standards and kept up to date;
  • Responsible for testing, installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance of new and existing computers, printers, technology devices and applications;
  • Ensuring communication tools are made available and configured correctly, including maintenance and configuration of the call centre, control room and office telephony systems;
  • Identify, recommend, and execute upgrades of existing computer systems;
  • Collaborate with and escalate issues to partners and suppliers as required;
  • Assisting the projects and telematics teams to achieve common department goals;
  • Provide knowledge transfer to other team members – this could take the form of on-the-job assistance;
  • Ensuring that all department personnel are trained and informed about the technologies and procedures of the department.

Requirements:  

  • Bachelors’ Degree in computer science or equivalent;
  • Microsoft Certifications will be considered an asset;
  • Two years’ working experience in IT Technical Support on Windows Operating Systems including client/ Server applications;
  • Experience working with SharePoint and other Office 365 products;
  • Basic knowledge of networking, e.g. TCP/IP, WAN/LAN;
  • Knowledge of SQL Server;
  • Ability to manage and prioritise workloads effectively;
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills;
  • Good administrative skills and attention to detail;

INNOVATION MANAGER

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Manage Scheduling and prioritisation of the technology projects portfolio according to the IT Business strategy;
  • Developing ideas and opportunities into executable project plans that achieve the goals and objectives of the project;
  • Monitor progress of various technology projects ensuring they are delivered successfully on time and within the budget;
  • Manage a multi-disciplined projects team;
  • Perform stakeholder and risk management;
  • Present timely project status reports on progress as well as problems and solutions;
  • Lead quality assurance and testing for all projects;
  • Ensuring that system standards and necessary resources for all completed projects are documented and properly communicated, implemented, and practiced;

ASSISTANT STOCK CONTROLLER

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • To ensure that the daily update of the inventory list and checking of stock levels;
  • Investigate all requests for stock variance;
  • Preparing Manual and Automatic Orders (PR’s);
  • Identifying and implementing cost-saving techniques;
    • Proactively working to minimise the total stock holdings without negative impact and effectively managing stock levels;
  • Carry out other duties that can be allocated or delegated by the Stores and Procurement Manager. 

Requirements: 

  • O’Level qualification with 2 of the subjects being Accounts and Mathematics;
  • Good knowledge of Excel;
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems will be considered an asset;
  • 2 Years’ experience in Stores or a similar role;
  • Ability to investigate Stock Discrepancies accurately and efficiently;
  • Teamwork, Organization at work;
