Bus Drivers

Malta Public Transport aims to continue improving its service to the public. In order to achieve this, the company is looking to recruit Bus Drivers.

In order to work as a bus driver, you would need:

  • A Category B Licence for at least one year (training will be given to obtain D licence)
  • Category D Licence is an asset (training will be provided if necessary*)
  • Basic spoken English
  • To be over 21 years of age
  • To submit a police conduct and pass a medical examination and driving assessment

Terms and Conditions:

  • An indefinite contract with 6 months' probation
  • A salary of up to €6.50 per hour
  • Possibility of overtime at a higher rate
  • Night shift allowances
  • Annual leave, sick leave and other special leave entitlements
  • Health Insurance
  • Free use of the public transport system for spouse and child/children
  • Employment is based on a 5/6 day rotating shift work

Are you willing to move to Malta to become a bus driver? If so, kindly note that the company is willing to ensure a smooth transition to Malta.

Besides being greeted at the airport, there will be transport provided on the first day of work, as well as assistance with all logistics in relation to obtaining required documents for Maltese tax system, residence permit scheme, social security and any other related requirements.

*In order to obtain a D licence one needs to be a resident in Malta for 6 months.

Team Supervisor

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the position of Team Supervisor in the Engineering Workshop.Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Team Supervisor will coordinate and supervise required works to achieve established goals for the company in the workshop, and assure the established planning by the Engineering Manager is accomplished by addressing the company standard levels on reliability and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Follow the Engineering Manager instructions
  • Diagnose breakdowns and incidences
  • Assign work to the Mechanics and Electricians on duty
  • Supervise the technical team performance, up to the required standard
  • Make sure that staff complete the required work and their job card
  • Fill out job cards or any other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability of works done
  • Ensure effective cleaning and organization of work areas and tools at all times, including hazardous waste management
  • Ensure compliance to policies namely security, health and safety, data protection, quality assurance and eco-friendly measures established in the area of responsibility
  • Carry out other duties that can  be allocated or delegated by Management

 Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum qualifications: Advanced City and Guilds or equivalent qualification, or 5 years experience
  • Minimum experience: 3 years

Shunter

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the following position in the Engineering Workshop:Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, the Shunter will be assigned to move, fuel and give adblue to the company vehicles during the logistic process performed during the night, and whenever is required.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Driving buses to go through the fuel and adblue process
  • External washing of buses with resources the Company allocates
  • Fuel buses and giving them adblue, when required
  • Park buses in the places designated by the Fleet Supervisor
  • Movement of buses between depots, and between each depot and Luqa workshop for maintenance and repair tasks
  • Fill out job cards or any other documentation related to the job to fully assure traceability of works done
  • Ensure effective cleaning and organization of work areas and tools at all times, including hazardous wastes management
  • Follow company Health and Safety Policy
  • Carry out duties allocated or delegated by the Fleet Supervisor

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be organised and able to communicate effectively
  • Be able to work in a team effectively
  • Have parking and maneouvering skills
  • Must be in possessio of Category D licence
  • Must be available to work night shifts

Call Centre Agent

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the following position in the Communications Department:

The Call Centre Agent will be assisting in the handling of all customer calls/messages/queries through different channels.

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Answering Calls - Responding to customer queries
  • Replying to customers' messages via Facebook, Web, Emails
  • Dealing with complaints in a courteous and professional manner
  • Any other ad hoc customer care related work

Required specifications and experience for the post:

  • Customer centric/focused
  • Call Centre experience
  • Positive attitude
  • Flexibility to work shifts and willingness to learn
  • The ability to work accurately, with attention to detail
  • The ability to think outside the box and go the extra mile for the customer
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - Maltese & English

Payroll Coordinator

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the following position in the Human Resources - Payroll Department:

Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Processing biweekly and monthly payroll in a timely manner using HR software systems
  • Maintaining an updated employee database including updating of sick leave and leave entitlements of all part-time employees;
  • Preparing and issuing reports on a regular basis and as required
  • Handling internal and external payroll queries that arise on a daily basis
  • Supporting internal departments namely HR team members and Operations department with any payroll related matters and as required
  • Any other payroll related tasks as required from time to time

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have a post-secondary level of education, preferably with a pass in Mathematics
  • Be proficient (verbal & written) in Maltese & English and preferably Italian
  • Have at least one year working experience in a payroll and/or time & attendance position
  • Proficient with Microsoft office and preferably Shireburn and/or payroll software systems
  • Be organised, able to maintain confidentiality and to communicate effectively
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team

Planning Analyst

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the following position in the Operations Department.

Forming part of the Operations team, this position requires the study and understanding of the different factors which alter the efficiency of a route which compose the transport network, together with the proper proposal and development of the necessary solutions and tools in order to propose more efficient running times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Studying the transport network, grouping the routes by areas or geographical areas in order to get a better understanding
  • Issue regular reports including specific KPIs to study the detailed performance of individual routes or groups of routes at different times of the day, the week, the year, etc.
  • Detect any factor that can affect the efficiency of a route in terms of reliability and punctuality;
  • Detect all the factors which cause alterations in the running times
  • Understand, identify and propose solutions for safety hazards on routes which may not necessarily affect running times but may affect the safety of the route
  • Work closely with the Depot managers to be able to implement quick solutions where necessary to improve route efficiency
  • Conduct internal workshops with drivers and other personnel to get a better in-depth understanding of how to make a route more efficient
  • Any other related task as required from time to time

The ideal candidates will:

  • Have a University degree, preferably in Physics, Mathematics or Engineer
  • Be proficient (verbal & written) in English
  • Knowledge of routes and IT office tools
  • Previous experience is not required however knowledge in management of transport network is an asset
  • Be highly organized and able to solve problems in an efficient manner
  • Be a self-starter and able to work own initiative
  • Be able to communicate effectively

VDL Assistant Controller

The Company is seeking to recruit a mature, reliable and energetic individual for the following position in the Services Department:

To ensure proper operation of planned services and promptly co-ordinate resolutions to arising incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operations and attend as required to all incidents, changes and problems in the transport services
  • Assisting with the management of service in terms of use of bus fleet and drivers
  • Accurate reporting of issues and problems required
  • Ensure quality of service in terms of Operations of Service

The role will involve shift work including evenings.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be organised and able to communicate effectively
  • Have a positive, energetic attitude with the ability to find solutions to occurring problems
  • Have the ability to work within a team
  • Be assertive, but not aggressive, to deal with difficult situations
  • Be diplomatic and able to make good judgements in stressful situations
  • Be proficient (verbal & written) in at least Maltese & English
  • Be flexible and adaptable in a changing environment
  • Have at least MQF Level 1 standard of education (school leaving certificate)
  • Be computer literate

Previous experience in transport operations will be considered an asset.
