Enter our Children’s Carnival photography competition for the chance to win one of 3 fantastic prizes. Send us your picture, showing children wearing a carnival costume on the bus, which must be between 1Mb and 3Mb in size, along with your name, customer number, address and telephone number to competitions@publictransport.com.mt.
1. Who Can Enter
The Tallinja Children’s Carnival Competition is open only to children of legal residents of Malta who are at least sixteen (16) years old. Employees of Malta Public Transport, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members of those employees are not eligible to enter.
2. Administration
The photography competition is administered by Malta Public Transport. This Photo Contest is in no way sponsored by, endorsed by, administered by, or associated with, Facebook.
3. Entry Period
The photography competition begins on Tuesday 21 February, 2017 and ends on Wednesday 1 March, 2017 (the “Entry Period”). Entries submitted before or after the Entry Period will not be eligible. Administrator’s computer is the official time-keeping device for the Carnival Competition for Children.
4. What to Enter
For our Children’s Carnival Competition, we’d like to see a depiction of the carnival theme. Photos must be taken on the bus showing children wearing a carnival costume.
5. Eligibility
To ensure eligibility for the contest, please submit files between 1MB and 3MB in size. Smaller files will not be uploaded, while larger files may be rejected by our email system.
Entries are to be submitted electronically in a .JPEG .jpg, or.png form.
Entries should include metadata if at all possible. Caption information should include:
- Name of entrant
- Customer number (found on the tallinja card) or a photo of the bus ticket
- Contact telephone number
- Email address
- Postal address
Previously published material for which non-exclusive rights were granted may be entered as long as you still maintain the right to grant us a license (see "Your Rights" below). You must be able to disclose when and where the photo appeared previously to Malta Public Transport upon request.
If you choose to include other people in your submission, you are responsible for obtaining the necessary releases from the individuals depicted, and must be able to provide copies of those releases to Malta Public Transport upon request.
The following submissions are ineligible:
- Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright.
- Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content.
- Images that involve putting any individual in danger.
- Images taken prior to 21 February, 2017.
Malta Public Transport shall determine entry eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion.
6. How to Enter
All images must be submitted to competitions@publictransport.com.mt including your name, email, customer number (or bus ticket) about your photo submission.
You may enter once. The Administrator reserves the right to reject any additional entries or entries that do not comply with these Official Rules.
By entering, you indicate your unconditional agreement to, and acceptance of, these Official Rules and the Administrator’s decisions, which are final and binding. You cannot win a prize unless you comply with all requirements in these Official Rules.
Entrants may be asked to supplement their submission (such as with a paragraph about their photo or the highest resolution version of their photo) anytime on or after March 1, 2017.
7. Prizes
Malta Public Transport will award the following prizes to be redeemed from Spells in Attard:
1st prize: €100 toy voucher
2nd prize: €50 euro toy voucher
3rd prize: €25 euro toy voucher
Prizes cannot be exchanged for cash.
8. Judging
Photos will be judged on originality, composition, artistic merit and overall impact. Higher scores will be given to photos depicting original costumes. Judging will be conducted by a panel of Malta Public Transport employees and may include guest judges to be selected by Malta Public Transport at its sole discretion (the “Panel”). The Panel will evaluate all valid entries and pick the three prize winners.

10. Your Rights
You will retain all rights to any photograph you submit - including ownership if applicable.
If you submit a photograph to enter the Children’s Carnival Competition, you grant Malta Public Transport a royalty-free, non-exclusive right during the Tallinja Children’s Carnival Competition to:
- Display the photograph on the Malta Public Transport website
- Display the photograph on the Tallinja Children’s Carnival Competition Facebook Album
- Allow third-parties to share the photograph on the following social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest.
If your photograph is a winner, you grant Malta Public Transport a royalty-free, non-exclusive right, in perpetuity, to:
- Use the photograph on the Internet and in Social Media.
- Use the photograph in Malta Public Transport’s internal and external communications materials including but not limited to websites and web publications, fact sheets, fund raising publications, advertising, multimedia, presentation and membership services, annual report and newsletters.
- Retain a digital copy of your photograph.
11. Other Terms and Conditions
By participating in the competition, winners agree to participate in an award ceremony and a professional photoshoot, and to grant Malta Public Transport a royalty-free, exclusive right in perpetuity to use photos from these events in internal and external communications materials including but not limited to websites and web publications, fact sheets, fund raising publications, advertising, multimedia, presentation and membership services, annual report and newsletters.
Except where prohibited, a potential winner may be required to complete and return an affidavit of eligibility, including proof of age, and liability/publicity release within 3 days. Since all potential winners are minors their parents or legal guardians will be required to sign the documents on their behalf. If a potential winner fails to return these documents on time, an alternate potential winner may be selected in his/her place.
