Improvements in Bus Service in San Ġwann

Additional three buses per hour in each direction

With effect from 17 April 2016, a number of changes to the routes serving San Ġwann and other areas will be implemented. This is a decision by the Authority for Transport in Malta.

Two new routes will be introduced to improve the service in San Ġwann especially along Naxaxr Road. Route 25 will provide a link between Valletta, Sliema Savoy and San Ġwann and will operate one bus every hour. Route 35 will provide a link between Mater Dei Hospital, University and San Ġwann and will operate two buses every hour.

These two routes are in addition to Routes 22 and 24.

Other Changes to the routes network:

Route 250 will be starting its journey from Mellieha Bay (Għadira) rather than from Ċirkewwa. The route will terminate in Valletta thus providing an additinal link between this popular beach, Santa Margherita and Valletta.

• Route 2 will be modified to Birgu center.
• Route 4 will be modified not to serve Birgu Centre.
• Route 14 will not be serving the area of ITS School in Pembroke from 18:00hrs onwards from Monday to Friday and all days Saturday and Sunday.
• Route 46 will be modified not to serve San Pawl tat-Targa.
• Route 63 will be reducing the frequency from 20min to 30min.
• Route 64 will be reducing the frequency from 30min to 60min.
• Route 82 will be ending the journey on bus stop ‘Girghien’ instead of ‘Imnarja’ in Birzebbuga.
• Route 90 will be reducing the frequency from 20min to 30min.
• Route 101 will be serving Popeye Village during opening hours only.
• Route 119 will be extended to the Power Station in Delimara.
• Route 210 will be modified not to serve Żejtun, Tarxien and Paola. It will decrease the journey time for Birzebbugia, Marsaxlokk and Qajjenza.
• Route 213 will be extended to Rinella.
• Route 260 will be extended to Valletta but will not be serving Santa Margerita and Targa Gap in Mosta. It will decrease Journey time for Għargħur residents. Additional service to Valletta.
• Route X3 will be modified to pass through Psaila street in Birkirkara instead of Valley Road B’Kara.
