Free Tallinja On Demand service throughout November

05/11/2020

Journeys with Tallinja On Demand will be completely free for Tallinja Card holders until the end of November. Tallinja On-Demand by Malta Public Transport provides a premium bus service with guaranteed pick-up and drop-off time at any of the bus stops in the operating zone spanning Pembroke to Valletta.

“We would like to give our customers the opportunity to try the Tallinja On Demand service, which is a convenient and efficient way to travel,” said Daniel Grech, Commercial Director at Malta Public Transport. “We believe that our Tallinja On Demand service is an essential part of the evolution of public transport in Malta.”

Trips can be easily booked through the TD Plus tab on the Tallinja App and may also be reserved in advance for a future date. Tallinja On Demand travels directly to the requested bus stops, making fewer stops than regular route buses besides being offered at no cost throughout November. The modern buses are designed for full accessibility, making it ideal for people using wheelchairs or pushchairs.

Passengers are reminded that facemasks are mandatory on the service and Malta Public Transport is taking all precautions to keep everyone as safe as possible. The custom buses are disinfected daily including all high-touch areas and only half of the total seating capacity is being permitted onboard to allow more space for passengers.

The Tallinja On Demand service is available from Monday to Sunday between 05:00 am and midnight and currently operates to and from strategic bus stops in the northern harbour region, covering Pembroke, St. Julian’s, Swieqi, San Ġwann, Sliema, Msida, Pietà, Floriana, and Valletta. In order to guarantee pick-up and drop-off times, the service currently operates in a limited area, avoiding places which are normally heavily congested.

Passengers without a Tallinja Card may still use the service at a fare of €2 per trip and €1 for every additional passenger. Payments are made directly with a bank card through the Tallinja App at the time of booking.
