Malta Public Transport is announcing that as of Monday, 23rd September 2024, it will be transitioning to the Winter Schedule on weekdays. There will be no changes made to the weekend (Saturday and Sunday) schedules.
The following are changes in the Winter Schedule:
- Removal of Summer Extensions:
- Routes 49 (Valletta - Għadira), 74 (Valletta - Żurrieq), 109/109A (Siġġiewi - Baħrija), and 101/101B (Mġarr - Ċirkewwa) will undergo the removal of summer extensions, reverting to regular winter routes.
- Increased Frequency:
- Several routes will experience increased frequency during peak hours:
- Route 43 (Valletta - Naxxar) will have its frequency increased from 30 to 20 minutes.
- Route 61 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żebbuġ) will see an improvement in frequency from 20 to 15 minutes throughout the day.
- Route 72 (Valletta - Qrendi) and Route 73 (Valletta - Żurrieq) will both see their frequencies improved from 30 to 20 minutes.
- Route 90 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żabbar) will have its frequency improved from 60 to 20 minutes during peak times.
- Return to Winter Schedule:
- Certain routes will revert to their Winter schedules with adjusted frequencies:
- Route 212 (Tas-Sliema - Buġibba) will see a frequency change from 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours.
- Route 221 (Buġibba - Ċirkewwa) will shift from 15 to 30 minutes during peak hours.
- Route 222 (Tas-Sliema - Ċirkewwa) will see its frequency change from 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours.
- Routes 223 and 225 (Buġibba - Għajn Tuffieħa and Tas-Sliema - Għajn Tuffieħa) will operate every 60 minutes throughout the day.
- Routes 311 (Rabat, Għawdex - Dwejra) and 322 (Mġarr - Marsalforn) will operate every 60 and 90 minutes, respectively, throughout the day.
- Route 53 (Valletta - Rabat) will experience a frequency change from 30 to 60 minutes.
- Resumption of Operations:
- Routes X1A (Ċirkewwa - Università ta’ Malta) and 150 (Lascaris - MCAST) will resume operations, coinciding with the beginning of the scholastic year.
Night Routes and TD10 Updates:
In addition to the changes in regular daytime routes, adjustments will also be made to night routes starting from 22nd September 2024:
- N13 (Valletta - San Ġiljan): Higher frequency on Fridays and Saturdays.
- N48 (Valletta - Buġibba): Extended service on weekends.
- N91 (Valletta - Marsaskala): Extended service on weekends.
Starting from 6th October 2024, Route TD10 (Valletta-Marsaxlokk) will offer a more frequent service on Sundays.
The timetables located at the bus stops will be updated to reflect the Winter Schedules.
Malta Public Transport would like to remind the public that Day Routes, Night Routes and Special Services are included in the Free Public Transport scheme. In order to benefit from free public transport, passengers are required to own a valid personalised Tallinja Card and tap it against the ticket machine every time they board the bus. Passengers without Tallinja Cards will need to purchase their ticket on board the bus.
