Bus services switch to winter schedule

17/10/2016

As of last Sunday 16 October 2016 cash tickets on the bus were reduced from €2.00 to €1.50. This is in line with the annual change in fares as regulated by the Government. The reduction in the fare could further encourage the use of public transport thus helping to alleviate the congestion on our streets. Furthermore, the bus service is now operating according to the winter schedule. The fares on all tallinja cards will not be affected.

Route X1A has been introduced again this winter to serve Ċirkewwa, Mater Dei, University and MCAST in Paola, between Monday and Friday. An additional route 30, serving Bombi, Kulleġġ, University and Mater Dei Hospital has also been introduced. These routes have been introduced in particular to help students who are travelling to the University, to the Junior College and to MCAST campus in Paola. Furthermore, holders of a student card may avail themselves of the Student Pass with which student card holders may travel for 90 days for €55 thus benefitting from further savings of €8.00.

The new schedules are available online on publictransport.com.mt. Due to these changes the ‘Journey Planner’ on the website and on the tallinja app are temporarily unavailable until the updates are in place. During these few days, Malta Public Transport is also updating all timetables on every bus stop in Malta and Gozo.
