Għar Lapsi and forget about everything
Clear waters, staggering rock formations, and rustic surroundings – Għar Lapsi is a stunning rocky cove facing the islet of Filfa. Tucked away between the Xaqqa Cliffs in Siġġiewi and Tal-Ħamrija Bank in Qrendi, Lapsi is a microcosm in itself that makes you immediately feel like you are a world away from anywhere else on the island.
Fishermen from the area still ply their trade the traditional way, easing small fishing boats down the slipway. The site is also popular with divers who love to explore the 40-meter cave system which give the site its name. Submerged at a depth of 15 meters on the outer reef is a life-size nativity scene, taking down an inherently Maltese custom down to the seabed.
For those who prefer to keep their head above the water, Lapsi offers crystal clean bathing water at varying depths suitable for beginners and experienced swimmers alike.
Perched at the top of a ridge above the inlet is the Lapsi Tower with its unique mix of architectural features protecting the inhabitants from pirate attacks.
The Lapsi area is dotted with restaurants serving the freshest catch and an unparalleled view of the Mediterranean.
Getting there
Route 109 between Baħrija and Siġġiewi makes the final stop right at Għar Lapsi. The route operates every hour from 05:35 to 20:35 and makes stops in Rabat, Attard, and Żebbuġ.
