Malta Public Transport congratulated ALSA on reaching the remarkable milestone of 100 years in the transport industry. ALSA, the leading transport company in Spain, and one of the leading transport operators in Europe, was founded by the Cosmen Family.

“As we celebrate this occasion, we reflect on the positive partnership between our two sister companies where we all work towards innovation and best practices in transport and mobility,” said Felipe Cosmen, chairman of Malta Public Transport.

The Cosmen family played a crucial role in the growth and development of ALSA. Their involvement helped contribute to ALSA's expansion, both within Spain and internationally, transforming ALSA into one of the leading transportation companies in Europe. Originally established a hundred years ago in Luarca, Asturias, the company has evolved into a global leader in the transport industry. From its humble beginnings, ALSA has grown to operate a fleet of 5,600 buses and employs over 16,000 dedicated professionals who serve more than 527 million passengers annually across various countries worldwide. Through a steadfast commitment to quality and innovation, ALSA has earned a reputation for reliability and efficiency in meeting the diverse needs of travellers.

With such a strong connection between the two companies, Malta Public Transport benefits significantly from ALSA’s rich expertise, innovation, and leadership in public transportation. The group’s philosophy is to adapt its international experience and success to the local context, including Malta.

Reflecting on this milestone, Konrad Pulè, General Manager of Malta Public Transport, stated, "Being part of such a historical and international group of companies provides Malta Public Transport with invaluable expertise and innovative best practices in the public transport sector."
