What is the Tallinja On Demand service?
Tallinja On Demand is a public transport on-demand service operated by Malta Public Transport. You can book a seat on one of our premium buses using our Tallinja App by choosing where and when to be picked up and dropped off. The system will then check the best ride available and show you your trip details. This means that you can book a trip between bus stops without worrying about whether there is space on the bus. It’s great, isn’t it?
How does it work?
Tallinja On Demand uses technology that matches the requests made by different passengers to select the most efficient route. It offers greater flexibility, more comfort and added value while saving time. Customers can book multiple passengers on a single trip, and request access for wheelchairs or pushchairs. The system also sends notifications to alert the passengers that the bus is on its way.
The Tallinja On Demand fleet includes six new premium minibuses which are low floor and fully wheelchair accessible. Free WiFi is available and seats are equipped with USB charging ports for added convenience. The minibuses can accommodate up to 16 passengers.
Safety is our priority
Here’s what we’re doing to keep everyone as safe as possible on our Tallinja On Demand service:
1. We are cleaning and sanitising all our fleet more frequently during the day. All buses are also fumigated during the night for extra precaution.
2. All buses have protected screens between the drivers and customers.
How can I book a Tallinja On Demand trip?
Just download the new Tallinja App and tap on the Tallinja On Demand icon. Sign up for this new service and book your first trip. We look forward to welcoming you onboard!
When does the Tallinja On Demand service operate?
The Tallinja On Demand service operates every day between 5.00 am and midnight.
How much does it cost?
With our current special offer, customers who book through the Tallinja App only pay €2.50 per trip. Customers can also book additional passengers on their trip for only €1 per passenger. Customers may choose to pay for their trip using the credit on their Tallinja Card or by providing their debit or credit card details through the Tallinja App.
Where is Tallinja On Demand service operating?
Tallinja On Demand is currently operating between Pembroke, St. Julian’s, Swieqi, San Ġwann, Sliema, Msida, Mrieħel and Birkirkara. Tallinja On Demand only operates on a limited number of bus stops to be able to offer customers a shorter journey time.
