Driving Malta’s Sustainable Future
Malta Public Transport’s addition of electric buses demonstrates its bold commitment to sustainability. This €20 million investment includes both the new fleet of buses and Malta’s first dedicated electric bus charging depot, which together enable seamless and efficient service across Malta and Gozo.
Each bus uses state-of-the-art battery technology, providing a range of up to 300 kilometers per charge. Primarily charging overnight, these buses are always ready for daily routes, while fast-charging options at the depot ensure continuous service throughout the day. As a result, this eco-conscious initiative will reduce CO₂ emissions by around 1,800 tonnes annually, directly enhancing Malta’s air quality and contributing to a healthier environment.
These buses also prioritise passenger comfort and convenience. They feature amenities such as USB charging ports, air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and accessibility adaptations, ensuring an enjoyable and high-quality travel experience for everyone.
