Malta Public Transport announces that on Monday, 22 September 2025, it will be transitioning to the Winter Schedule. This includes the return of routes connecting to University and post-secondary colleges, while some routes will also have a change in frequency on weekdays.

Routes X1A (Ċirkewwa – Università ta’ Malta), 150 (Lascaris – MCAST) and 207 (Marsa P&R-Naxxar Higher Secondary) will resume operations on 22 September 2025 to coincide with the beginning of the scholastic year.

The following routes will have a change in frequency between Monday and Friday as from 22 September 2025. Frequencies will be increased on Route 43 (Valletta – Naxxar), Route 61 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żebbuġ), Route 72 (Valletta – Qrendi) and Route 73 (Valletta – Żurrieq). At the same time Route 212 (Tas-Sliema – Buġibba), Route 221 (Buġibba – Ċirkewwa), Route 222 (Tas-Sliema – Ċirkewwa), Route 223 (Buġibba – Għajn Tuffieħa), Route 225 (Tas-Sliema – Għajn Tuffieħa), Route 310 (Rabat, Għawdex – Dwejra), Route 322 (Mġarr – Marsalforn) and Route 53 (Valletta – Rabat) will revert to the winter frequency. As from 1 November 2025, there will also be a change in the frequency on weekends.

Routes extended to beaches (Routes 109, 49, 74 and 101, covering Armier, Blue Grotto, Lapsi-Baħrija, Ġnejna and Ramla) will remain extended until 31 October 2025.

Passengers are able to travel for free on the network’s Day Routes, Night Routes and Special Services as part of the Free Public Transport scheme, when using their personalised Tallinja Card. Passengers are required to tap their card on the ticket machine every time they board the bus. Passengers can also purchase tickets on board the bus, paying with cash or contactless. The winter fare for cash tickets will revert to €2.00 on 19 October 2025.

The timetables located at the affected bus stops will be updated to reflect the winter schedules.
