The Tallinja App wins MCA eBusiness Best App Award

13/04/2017

Malta Public Transport was honoured to receive the Best App award for the tallinja mobile app, which was developed by Alert, at the annual MCA eBusiness awards this week.

“We believe that the tallinja mobile app has had an immense impact on the way people use public transport in Malta,” said Daniel Grech, Commercial Director at Malta Public Transport. “Receiving this award is indeed an honour. Although we could see that the app was an instant success, with over 100,000 downloads in one year, this recognition means a lot to our team and will surely motivate us to continue to improve the service.”

The app’s design and function revolve around improving the customer experience for those choosing to travel by bus. Through the app, passengers can see real-time information about bus arrival times, at any of the 2,000 bus stops around the island. This innovative feature offers added value to our customers, while it also provided easy access to information and functions already available online, such as the journey planner or topping up the tallinja card account.

“This app most definitely contributed toward the turnaround in the public’s mind-set towards public transport,”the continued Grech. “We would like to thank our partners in this venture, Alert (now Deloitte Digital), for their commitment in the development of this product. We look forward to continue working together on the new updates that will be released in the coming weeks.”

The MCA eBusiness Awards have the aim of acknowledging unique and innovative ideas and initiatives in the use of web-based technologies and eBusiness for businesses and society at large. Established in 2011, these awards aid in the promotion of the most innovative initiatives in the domain of eBusiness for development and to spread awareness about the role of web-based technologies in addressing social and economic concerns.
