14/12/2019

President George Vella today announced the 4th Edition of the ‘B’Tal-Linja għall-Istrina’ initiative that will take place this Saturday 14th December.

Fares collected from the first trip by bus passenger on all routes will be donated to the Malta Commuity Chest Fund Foundation through the L-Istrina campaign. This initiative will include all the first bus trips that are paid with the personalised Tallinja Cards as well as half the fares collected from cash tickets on this day will also be donated.

“At Malta Public Transport we believe that we can make a difference in the quality of people’s lives as we care about the community and our environment. L-Istrina has become a distinctive characteristic of the Festive Season in Malta and we are proud to support the families and individuals who benefit directly from this cause,” said Malta Public Transport General Manager Konrad Pulé.

“By using the bus on Saturday 14th December, passengers will not only be reducing congestion and emissions on our roads, but they will also be contributing to such a worthy cause because part of the fare that they pay will go directly towards L-Istrina. The more people use the bus on Saturday 14th, the more people in need will benefit.”

President George Vella thanked Malta Public Transport Directors for organising this event and for the effort being made to support L-Istrina campaign and ultimately the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation (MCCFF).

“Your contribution is instrumental in ensuring more and more people benefit from assistance and ultimatley transition towards better quality of life.  You should be proud of acting as models of social commitment for upcoming and future generations.”

Passenger fees will not be affected, and the regular fares will apply: Child & Concession Tallinja Cards at €0.25c per trip; Adult, Student and Gozo Tallinja Cards at €0.75c per trip; and cash tickets at €1.50 per trip.
