Bus network changes will come into effect in July 2025 to improve connectivity, efficiency, and passenger convenience during the summer period. These changes, which will happen in two phases on the 6 July and 13 July 2025 will include frequency adjustments, new routes, and improved service coverage.

The first phase will come into effect on the 6 of July with increased frequencies on weekdays on Routes 212, 221, and 223 to better serve high-demand corridors. On the other hand Routes 150, 207, and X1A will be suspended for the summer period since schools are closed during summer.

Adjustments to some routes will also come into effect. Route 43 will see a reduction in frequency, Route 119 direction to the Airport will serve Żejtun, Route TD3 will change its path to now operate via San Ġiljan, Sliema front, Kulleġġ, and Bombi before returning to the Airport while Route 135 (Marsascala to Mater Dei) will undergo a timetable shift to improve synchronisation with Route 117 at St. Vincent de Paul.

The second phase will come into effect on the 13 of July with the introduction of new routes namely Route 401, a new circular route in Paola and parts of Tarxien while Route 402 will offer a direct connection between Addolorata and Mater Dei via the University of Malta.

Other modifications and extensions include Routes 62 and 209 which will become circular and follow new paths in Siġġiewi. Routes 117 and 218 will now include a loop through Mqabba, with Route 117 also entering the St. Vincent de Paul gate to enhance access to healthcare and elderly facilities.

Route TD2 will become a fully circular route, Route 205 will start serving the “Duca” bus stop in Luqa in the direction of Birżebbuġa, Route 72 will now serve Marsa Industrial Estate while Route X300 will start serving the “Riserva” bus stop in Mellieħa in both directions.

Passengers are encouraged to check updated schedules and route maps available on the Malta Public Transport website and mobile app. Additional customer support will be available at bus terminals and via the call centre to assist with the transition.
