Malta Public Transport has launched its Back to School campaign, offering eligible students the opportunity to register for a personalised Tallinja card free of charge, including postage, between Tuesday 1 September and Friday 30 October.
The campaign is aimed at children and students returning to school, MCAST, Junior College, the University of Malta and other educational institutions for the new scholastic year. Once registered, students can travel free of charge on Malta Public Transport’s day and night bus services using their personalised Tallinja card.
Applications are open for students aged between 11 and 16, as well as those 17 and over who can provide proof of attendance of a full-time study course lasting more than three months.
The personalised Tallinja card can be used for journeys to and from educational institutions, as well as for travel during the day and after school hours.
Students who do not yet have a personalised Tallinja card are encouraged to take advantage of the campaign and apply during the applicable days.

- Back to School Promotion: This limited-time promotion gives eligible children and students the opportunity to apply for a personalised tallinja card free of charge subject that the terms and conditions outlined below are followed.
- Eligibility: Children aged 4 up to 10 years; students aged 11 to 16 years; and students 17 years and over who can provide proof that they are attending a full time study course lasting longer than 3 months. The Promotion is available only to new applicants who have never applied for, or held, a personalised tallinja card, and who submit the required and properly filled in application via the Malta Public Transport online application form during the Promotion Period.
- The Promotion Period: Eligible applicants must apply online for a child or student personalised tallinja card between 1st September 2026 and 30th October 2026. Applications submitted before 1st September 2026 or after 30th October 2026 will not qualify for this promotion.
